  • The anatomy of the ultrasound device

  • The basic principles and techniques of lung ultrasound

  • The components of the physical exam using ultrasound

  • How to identify proper anatomical landmarks for the ultrasound assessment

  • How to identify normal vs. abnormal lung ultrasound findings

  • How to identify lung pathologies and their associated ultrasound findings

  • How to assess the diaphragm and IVC for dysfunction related to mechanical ventilation

  • How to use ultrasound to optimize the chances of a successful arterial puncture

CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION

  • This course has been approved for 8 hours of continuing education for Respiratory Therapists, Paramedics, and Nurses.

  • RT hours approved by the American Association for Respiratory Care

  • Paramedic hours are awarded through a Colorado State Approved EMS Training Group.

  • Nursing hours are awarded through the California Board of Nursing

CRITERIA FOR AWARDING CONTACT HOURS

  • Attendees must participate in the entire education session.

  • Attendees must pass an online exam and submit an online course evaluation.
